Relay For Life!

Just 2 more days until we're Relaying in Livermore! WOO HOO! I love Relay in this town. Our volunteers and teams are so hard core--you've never seen Purple Power like this before!

The teams turned in nearly $18,000 in fundraising tonight, in addition to the $120,000 currently raised online! These teams have raised over $45,000 for the cause in the last 6 days! (6 DAYS!!!!!)

We still have about $70k to raise to meet our goal, but I have faith that we'll get there.

If you'd like to make a donation to Relay in support of the American Cancer Society, please visit my personal page here: http://main.acsevents.org/goto/brooke.beyer

And if you're in the area, come out and join us at the Livermore Relay For Life this weekend!

The 365 Project: Day 173

Raf is spoiling me! Or he's already spoiling the baby. Either way, I'm not complaining. I hadn't had one of these babies in YEARS and it was SOOO good!

The 365 Project: Day 172

The hubba bubba trying on his groomsman garb for Grev & Lynda's wedding in Kauai in August. Still SO bitter to have to stay home for this one!

Taking down the stump of the biggie.

The 365 Project: Day 170

Today's 365 post is all Raf. He and his whole family climbed Yosemite's Half Dome for Father's Day. (They're nuts.) Raf would like to add that he hiked "20.7 miles today", btw. :)
I, on the other hand, sat around all day like a lazy pregnant girl and watched my dad work in my yard. Yes, I would be the horrible child out of the two of us!

The 365 Project: Day 169

Dad's primary job while he's been here has been to take out all our dead birch trees. Depressing, but having dead limbs fall on your house during our lovely wind storms is worse. I'll share more on the before and afters of this project soon.

The 365 Project: Day 166

Our nasty hall floor is finally coming up, thanks to Pops!

Sometimes I am my Mother

And I just can't help myself. So even though I don't know whether we're having a boy or a girl, at $5 a pop and with a $10 coupon in hand, I caved. They were just TOO cute to skip!

The 365 Project: Day 165

Grouted floor update! So pretty!

The 365 Project: Day 164

Guess who has bathroom floors?!?! Guess who's excited about grouting the bathroom floors!?!?!
Woo Hoo!

The 365 Project: Day 163

More paint! This time in the bathroom by my adorable hubba bubba. Can you believe we're at a painting stage in there?! It's getting so close!
It amazes me how different this paint looks as it's drying. There are 3 very distinct colors here!
All finished!

The 365 Project: Day 162

Fam is here and work has begun! Raf's mom is in charge of painting the baby room. This woman is one efficient master painter!

The pictures are no good, but you get the idea. With flash:
Without flash:
I love, Love, LOVE it! The color is so perfect. Every time I walk by I get a huge smile on my face. And, as you can see, Dad is already working on the moulding, which makes it look even more fabulous! YAY!!!

Now we just need to track down some furniture. I've decided to go with blonde wood baby furniture, to match the Ikea Poang Rocker with Red cover that's calling my name. :)

The 365 Project: Day 161

Dad's in town and Raf has officially kicked off the "Super House Weekend"! We've invited my dad and his mom and brother over to help try to make some significant progress on house projects this weekend.
The floor tiles finally went down and this guy is excited!
Tiles are in! Patiently awaiting grout. Woo Hoo!

The 365 Project: Day 160

More paint color testing. This time in the bathroom. The blue is tempting, but the lighter gray is the big winner for now!

The 365 Project: Day 159

A sight rarely seen in my craft room: multiple completed projects! That's right, friends, 4 completed baby blankies! So exciting! Of course, two are 3 months late; but one is right on time, and one is super early. So, go me! I just loving seeing them all together!

The 365 Project: Day 158

Due to poor picture quality, I'm pretty sure you can hardly see the two baby room paint colors being tested here. However, there are two. Well, one actually. I mentioned to Jamie, my friend who stages homes, that I was struggling with my search for the perfect aqua/teal color--all our swatches were looking too blue in this room. She asked if we were using primer (no, not yet), and if the color on the wall was currently a yellow tone (yes). Bingo!

So the color on the left is directly on the current paint; on the right we have primer down first. Made all the difference in the world and it turned out the sample I already had was exactly what I was looking for! Thanks Jamie!

The 365 Project: Day 157

Bump update! 24 weeks+.

Eek--I'm getting big! And it's super weird to see in a photo. Woah.

The 365 Project: Day 156

Guess what? The Fly Lady timer system totally works in the yard, too! Raf and I built this pile of weeds in 30 minutes. Nice! And that was definitely my limit. I was pooped after 30 minutes of weed pulling! Now if only the weeds would never return...

The 365 Project: Day 155

Another blast from the past Card Club design. Dressed up with some pick-your-own flowers and an embossed sentiment.

Had a great time at Card Club! This was the first time I've hosted at home, and 5 of the 6 were brand new to card making (and did an awesome job!) I had a great time and earned $85 for my Relay For Life fundraising efforts. Yay!

The 365 Project: Day 154

Saturday Card Club prep. Includes a little blast from the past.

The 365 Project: Day 153

More hand-me-down fabulousness! Board books generously donated by the cousins. From what I hear, the decision to share had to be made on a book-by-book basis. :)

The 365 Project: Day 152

I ordered 4 peanut butter cookies before leaving a restaurant at lunchtime yesterday. What I didn't know is that they would be the size of my head! Oops.

(And NO, I'm not so pregnant that I actually automatically order 4 cookies--I just needed to hit a minimum bill total to use a coupon!)

Dear Curb Appeal,

PICK US!!!! Please. Pretty Please?

Jules forwarded info about the HGTV show Curb Appeal looking for a home project in the Bay Area, so I sent off our story tonight. Can you imagine how fabulous it would be to have professional help to get our place looking like...well, like there's a house in there somewhere?!

The 365 Project: Day 151

I tried another step in the Fly Lady system today. I see all these testimonials about how much women are getting done by setting their 15 minute timers to tackle an area. Some seemed just a little far-fetched to me, so I decided it was time to try it myself.

Before making lunch today, I decided to set my timer for 15 minutes to get the kitchen cleaned up. I finished what I wanted to in less than 10 minutes(!) so I decided to open up our messiest cupboard and take a stab at getting it organized. I made it through everything but the candy by the time the timer went off. (As you can see, we have a bit of a sweet tooth in this house!)

Then, tonight, I set another 15 minute timer to pickup the craft room--otherwise known as "the room where all our clothes currently live" (since neither we nor our wardrobes can reside in the master until the bathroom renovation is complete). In those 15 minutes, I unpacked my suitcase from the weekend, folded 2 loads of laundry, picked up the room, and started a new load of laundry. Craziness, I tell ya! So then I set another 15 minutes for the kitchen chaos. I finished organizing the candy cabinet and had tons of time left, so I read through and organized the ever-growing stack of paper accumulating in our typical Hot Spot.

This 15 minute zone cleaning concept is ridiculous! 15 minutes is nothing--not scary or intimidating at all--and it's seriously NUTTY how much you can accomplish in that amount of time if you set a timer and focus on one specific area. Yay for the Homemaker-in-Training!
