I had let the latest bags of plums hang out on the counter for quite some time and a good portion of them were getting too soft to consider good jamming fruit. So I decided to make juice from them instead. I followed the instructions found here, and ended up with 4 pints--3 of which went straight into the freezer and should be good for at least 6 months.
The juice, as you can tell from the photo above, is quite concentrated. You'd struggle to drink this straight. I prefer to keep it in this concentrated form because it's smaller to store, and while Raf likes to mix his juices with water, I prefer the bubbles of sparkling water (not to mention some Bacardi Limon, but that's neither here nor there!)
Somebody's excited!
We weren't completely lame for the anniversary. Once we got some work done, we headed out to have dinner at Alberto's Cantina in Blackhawk. Obviously we hadn't been there for quite some time because when we got there we realized that it was a completely different restaurant! Coa is still Mexican, so that was a plus--but way fancy schmancier. And while the service was sub-par, the pond-side patio was just as wonderful as always, and the food was super yummy.
We finished off our evening with a visit to the cookbook section of Draeger's Market. It sounds dorky, but I could seriously spend hours in this fabulous little room. It's jam packed with every pretty cookbook that could ever make your mouth water. Love it!
